The clarity committee is addressing the issues that were identified in the septic study conducted by the town in 2021. Four subcommittees are working on components of the phosphorus problem.
- Septic subcommittee is focused on what can be done in the short term to improve awareness and septic pump-outs by those in the community
- Sewer subcommittee is investigating a longer-term sewer solution that would connect some residents living near five lakes to an expanded sewage treatment plant on Bouton Road, and form a septic maintenance district for residents not as close to the lakes
- Runoff subcommittee is concerned with preventing stormwater pollution from entering our lakes
- Internal loading subcommittee is assessing the phosphorus that comes from anoxic lake sediments.
