Introducing the Three Lakes Council
The Three Lakes Council was organized in 1970 to lead and coordinate the environmental efforts for the Lake Waccabuc – Oscaleta – Rippowam watershed in the Town of Lewisboro, New York.
Our mission is to preserve and protect the entire 2,200 acre watershed through education, conservation and prevention. We are the only non-profit association in the watershed with this mission. We base our decisions on a scientific view of what benefits all three lakes, and interact with the various associations on the lakes. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the financial generosity and volunteer efforts of many lake area residents to accomplish our goals.
The purpose of the Three Lakes Council is:
- To improve and safeguard water quality and the condition of Lakes Oscaleta, Rippowam and Waccabuc.
- To inform and educate the community in the Three Lakes watershed about safeguarding and improving the quality of the waters and watershed.
- To encourage and support the management, preservation and acquisition of valuable wetlands, shoreline and other undeveloped portions of the Three Lakes.
- To address issues that may be impacting the enjoyment of the lakes by residents of the community.
- To study and report on potential issues relevant to these purposes and to coordinate community action when necessary.
